HUFS, Kyung-hee University and University of Seoul hosted a joint festival from Sept. 25 to 30. The festival, called “Troika,”
takingplaceforthefirsttimeofthisyearaimstopromotecooperationamonguniversitiesofDongdaemun-gu.
LeeSeon-beom,thepresidentoftheEmergencyPlanningCommittee(EPC)ofSeoulCampussaid,“Therehavebeenaspirations
forinter-campusactivityamongthestudentsofthethreeuniversities.Webelievethatthisgalawouldserveasmomentumtobring
harmony,friendship,andunitytotheuniversitycommunity.”Withthedesireofeventorganizerstocreateanewcampusculture,
thesloganofTroikawassetas“WeMove.”
Troika consists of three major programs: “Yeokdongjeon,” a sports event between students, “Gamdongjae,” an academic
exchange,and“Akdongjae,”aculturalperformanceofeachuniversity’sclubs.HUFSwasinchargeoftheopeningceremonyand
Gamdongjae. President Lee said, “We focused on the establishment of Troika this year. From this time forward, we will do our
besttoconsolidatetheeventbyreflectingstudents’feedbacks.”

Boyko Borissov, the prime minister of Bulgaria, came to HUFS as one of the courses of
his visit to South Korea celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between
twocountries.HeisthefirstprimeministerwhovisitedKorea.
At this event, the prime minister promised utmost support for the students of Dept. of
Greek Studies and Bulgarian Studies. Chae Yoo-jung, the professor of Dept. of Greek

and passion for Bulgarian culture. He promised to give many benefits to Korean students
who study Bulgarian such as increasing scholarships, providing more dormitories for students studying abroad, and expanding
internshipopportunities.”
HUFS’ Dept. of Greek Studies and Bulgarian Studies is the only place in Korea where students can learn Bulgarian. The
department has mutual cooperation agreement with two Bulgarian major universities. In addition, there are active student
exchangeswithSofiaUniversity,throughthesummercampandHonorsprogram.

Duringhistenure,PresidentLeewasdivestedofhisrighttovoteintheCentralManagingCommitteemeetingbybeingabsent
three times without reasons. As a result, the CBA members demanded Lee’s resignation. Due to his resignation, the Council
officialswerealsoresignedautomaticallyandtheStudentCommitteewasturnedintoEmergencyPlanningCommittee(EPC).
LeeDong-heon,theCBAEPC’spresident,said,“Iknowmanyundergraduatesofourcollegeareshockedbecauseoftheformer
StudentCommittee’ssuddenbreak-up.Wewillheartheirvoicesanddoourbesttoresolveacrisiswefacebeforethenextelection
inNovember.”
