OnememorytakesmebacktowhenIwassixyearsold,whenIhadtomakeapresentcelebratingParents¡¯
Day for my art class. Watching other classmates all folding carnations, I wanted to make something special.
After thinking for a while, I made a watch patterned with numerous Chanel logos for my mom and a tie for
my dad using colored paper. My parents, who were expecting to receive carnations, burst into laughter after
opening the presents and kept it in their jewelry box for a long time. 16 years have passed, and we still talk
abouttheuniquepresentseveryParents¡¯Day.

kids alone, but she always did her best to raise us without any inadequacies. When I was 18, my mom was
diagnosedwithbreastcancer.Ihavealwaysbeenanimmaturechildwhotookherforgranted,butIrealized
shealsoneedscareandassistance.TherewasnotmuchIcoulddoforherasahighschoolstudent.Aftermy
college entrance exam, I got my first part-time job. I realized working consistently every weekend was not
easy. With the first month payment I received, I bought my mom a designer wallet. My mom said it was a
wastetousethemoneyIearnedsohard,butIsawaslighttearinhereye.Althoughitwassomethingsosmall
comparedtowhatIreceivedfromher,mymombeingsothankfulmademefeelalittleashamed.
