What it Means to be
an Argusian
IthasbeenalmosttwoyearssinceIbecamepartofTheArgus.Twoyearsago,I
wasacub-reporter.ThefirstimpressionofTheArguswasstrictandscary.Ittook
time for me to understand its system and get used to it. During the hard-training
in the winter vacation, I was busy, meeting seniors and preparing to become a
real reporter. I struggled to finish assignments, staying up all night. I made many
mistakesthatcub-reporterswouldmake.
As a reporter, I remember running around the campus and the city, busy taking
photos, interviewing people and gathering news, my heart filled with pride.
However, it was a difficult time in which The Argus kept pushing me to my limit.
Writinganarticlewasnoteasyatall;Ihadtofindaccurateandenoughevidenceto
properlysupportmylogicinthearticle.Ineededtoknowhowtointerviewothers
asareporter.Ilearned.Ilearnednotonlyhowtowritethough;Ilearnedmylimits
and my weaknesses; so close to giving up, but I never let go of the rope. Other
membersandseniormemberswerealwaysthereforme,givingmeendlesssupport
andunderstanding.
The hard time slowly passed and I was more composed. I knew my weaknesses
andthenIcouldslowlyfillinwhatismissinginme.IwasbecominganArgusian,
my mind more open to its people and The Argus was no longer ¡®scary¡¯ but ¡®cozy¡¯
and¡®warm.¡¯Problemsandhardshipsthatwereoncesobigtomeweresmallernow.
Iwasmorematureandstronger.
As the Editor-in-Chief, I still face my weakness and there are still difficult times
butIamworkinghardtoovercomethem.Now,Ialsoseemystrengths.Halfofmy
universitylifecannotbeexplainedwithoutTheArgusandIhopeforallmyjunior
reporterstoalsohavethechancetomaketheirownvaluableexperiencefromThe
Argus.
