Overseas Internship
HUFS signed a government-academia cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
Trade to dispatch interns to overseas government offices for six months. This is the Internship Program
at Korean Embassies Overseas and is the first agreement of its kind in Korea. HUFS offers several other
internship programs including an Internship at KOTRA Offices Overseas, which develops talented
individuals' practical perspectives based on overseas work experience; and the Korea Economic Daily
Internship, which provides on-the-job training under an agreement with the Korea Economic Daily.
Korea’s First Ever Diplomatic Internship for Students Aspiring to Become the
next Ban Ki-moon
The Internship Program at Korean Embassies Overseas is Korea’s first program
created by HUFS and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade to groom students
to become diplomats under the mutual agreement of 2007. Every year, some 100
students are dispatched to Korean embassies for six months to gain experience in
actual diplomatic affairs and develop international insights and knowledge.
Fostering Global Trade Experts through Hands-on Experience
The Internship at KOTRA Offices Overseas program dispatches students to overseas
KOTRA offices for six months to enable them to acquire international insight and basic
knowledge in professional fields. Students who completed the second semester of
their sophomore year are eligible for an internship opportunity, and all applicants are
subject to paper screening and evaluation of foreign language skills. A maximum of 12
credits is acknowledged for this internship.
