¡°Flexible part-time employment will not work well for
young job seekers looking for full-time positions. Its
target is job-discontinued women and the unemployed,
post-retirementelderly,¡±saidPangHa-nam,theMinister
of The Ministry of Employment and Labor in a press
conferenceatGwacheonGovernmentComplex.
To address such negative factors, the government has implemented flexible part-time job
system.Sincetheimplementation,itstargethasbeenwomenandtheelderly:womenwhowant
to return to the workforce after years away due to marriage or child care, and retired seniors
whowanttousetheirexpertise.
The government announced a goal of creating 930,000 jobs to raise the employment-population ratio. After the adoption of
flexiblepart-timejobsystemonJune4th,2013,beginningwiththepublicsector,itwasputintoaction.TheMinistryofEducation
claimed that it hired 600 flexible part-timers and public enterprises, including Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Company and
KoreaRailroadrespectivelydecidedtohire824and846job-sharepositionsthisyear.Moreover,138publicservantswillbehired
inaccordancewiththesystem.Alongwiththepublicsector,privateconglomeratesarealsotakingstepstoperformflexiblepart-
timejobsystem.
