number of new changes in language divisions are under way across both the Seoul Campus and the Global
Campus.OntheSeoulCampus,theDivisionofLanguage&Diplomacy(L&D)openedin2014andtheDivisionof
Language&Trade(L&T)willacceptfreshmenfrom2015.TheDivisionofLanguage&Engineering(L&E)and
theDivisionofLanguage&InformationTechnology(L&IT)arescheduledtobeestablishedontheGlobalCampus,among
thenaturalsciencedepartments.
While it is obvious that HUFS is emphasizing language usage in many fields by creating new departments, other
departments are being required to close or cut the number of students within their departments to make space for the new
ones.ThoughthesechangesseemtostrengthenHUFS’competitiveness,manystudentsareagainstthereforms.
Whatisthehiddenstorybehindthesuddenchangeshappeningatschool?TheArguslookedintothereasonswhystudents
areagainstthereforms,andalsowhattheschooladministrationisaimingforinthisreorganizationprocess.
