HUFS Masterplan
Construction of the Second Dormitory for Optimal Learning Environment
Construction of the main building and multipurpose lecture building is underway on the Global Campus(Yongin). Following
the overhauling of academic programs, the construction of a multipurpose lecture building to replace deteriorating facilities
will mark a major expansion and improvement of the infrastructure of the Global Campus(Yongin). The second dormitory of
HUFS Inaugurates Three-Campus Era
the Global Campus(Yongin), whose construction began in 2010 in full scale, will accommodate 1,698 students. Each room
will have a shower room and rest room, and the top floor of each wing will house a reading room. The guest house for foreign
faculty has floor space of 6,466 square maters (69,600 square feet) and is adjacent to the second dormitory. It will have 82
rooms including single rooms and family quarters.
Global
Equally as important as recruiting outstanding students is having a top-notch infrastructure to support them. Having
set up the master plan for the Seoul Campus, HUFS is building the second dormitory on the Global Campus(Yongin),
Campus
the Yongin English Village, and a second Global Campus in Songdo. The educational environment of HUFS has been
created in response to constant change and numerous challenges to prepare students to greet a very different
tomorrow.
Construction of an Underground Complex and Remodeling of the Old Main Building
Following the master plan of HUFS Vision 2016, the old main building was
dismantled and a multipurpose underground complex housing such student
facilities as an auditorium and a sports center is being built in its place. This new
complex will help realize the long-awaited large-scale event venue for HUFS,
not to mention the improvement of the educational and research environment
through phased construction of educational facilities including an expanded
library, lecture halls, and convenience facilities and the creation of outdoor spaces
including well-decorated rest areas and above-ground spaces. Remodeling of the
Seoul
social sciences building, improvement of restrooms, remodeling of the Graduate
School and the underground facility of the international building, repair work on
Campus
the main gate, and landscape improvement work for the main access road will be
undertaken.
Songdo
Springboard toward a Global Campus
Under Vision 2016, HUFS is establishing a third global campus in Songdo,
Campus
Incheon, in addition to its Seoul Campus and Global Campus(Yongin). The
third global campus in Songdo will serve as a springboard for HUFS to expand
throughout the world. After completing the master plan and architectural design
work in 2010, HUFS plans to open the Interpretation and Translation Center
including a dormitory in 2013 and then open the International Business Center
and the Center for Korean Language and Culture in 2016.
