Park Chul (Park): The core of my
globalization.¡±

When I was elected as the eighth HUFS
President in 2005, HUFS faced up to
the strike of officials in the University. I
worriedthatthestrikewouldinterruptthe
education of students. My first principle
istoconsiderstudents.IthinkthatHUFS
couldbedevelopedwhenImakeapolicy
for students. Policies for students are to
improvetheabilityofstudents.Secondis
tolovemyschool.IfIdidn¡¯tloveHUFS,
I couldn¡¯t be the HUFS President. These
principlesmademere-electedasthenext
HUFSleader.
Argus: In your last four years, what
wasthemostimportantpolicy?
Park:Mygoalinperiodofthepresident
is to become a prestigious private
universitylikeYonseiUniversityorKorea
University. To accomplish my goal, the
policyofeducationisthemostimportant
policy. So, HUFS has made a various
policy to improve the students¡¯ ability.
For example, the University has made an
effort to step-up the quality of Foreign
Language Examination (FLEX), the test
toevaluatetheabilityofEnglishorother
foreign languages in HUFS. In the result
of the effort, FLEX could be recognized
as an official test by government. I think
that the policy, such as the effort to step
up the quality of FLEX, could be the
foundationofmygoal.
Argus: HUFS President Park Chul
is often considered as Don Quixote.
Since the firm self-belief of the
President and propulsive power in
working are the very images of the
President,thebynameasDonQuixote
